SO WHATS INSIDE?

ORGANIC SHEA BUTTER | Shea butter is a skin superfood that comes from the seeds of the fruit of the Shea (Karite) tree and that is naturally rich in vitamins A, E and F. It offers UV protection (SPF-6) and provides the skin with essential fatty acids and the nutrients necessary for collagen production. The concentration of natural vitamins and fatty acids in shea butter makes it incredibly nourishing and moisturizing for skin. It is often used to remedy dry skin and to help protect the skin’s natural oils. Studies have also proved that due to the presence of cinnamic acid and other natural properties, shea butter acts as an anti-inflammatory. Shea butter aids in the skin’s natural collagen production and contains oleic, stearic, palmitic, and linolenic acids that protect and nourish the skin to prevent drying. With long-term use, many people report skin softening and strengthening as well as wrinkle reduction.

ORGANIC MANGO BUTTER | Derived from the rain-forests of the world, the deliciously sweet fruit of the mango is full of moisture. Mangoes not only nourish the body internally, but they also provide skin with sweet treats. These include moisture, and vitamins A, C and E, which work to combat free radicals. Free radicals are found in the sun's rays and air pollution. When applied to the skin, mango butter has the ability to protect it from the sunburn as well as sooth sunburned skin.

ORGANIC COCOA BUTTER | Cocoa beans are good for more than just luscious morsels of chocolate - they also make a glorious butter. Cocoa butter is simple a shade of white in its organic form. This butter is high in fat, which helps it to deliver deep nourishment and moisture to your skin. For those struggling with eczema, cocoa butter may be worth trying. Cocoa butter is rich in antioxidants including oleic acid, palmitic acid, and stearic acid. These fatty acids actually are a benefit to your skin, because they will provide a layer of protection from skin stressors and free radicals. This helps to slow to process of aging while acting as a mild sunscreen.

COCONUT OIL | Coconut oil is an excellent skin moisturizer. It is a gentle, yet thorough cleanser, too! It softens the keratin caps on skin and makes exfoliation much easier. The light, spreading texture of coconut oil enables it to seep into the skin, bringing it clogged debris and dirt to the skin's surface. Coconut oil also acts as an antibacterial shield. The antibacterial properties of coconut oil protect the skin from potential pathogens. More importantly, it can reduce the risk of bacterial infections worsening acne. Coconut oil is also a natural protectant against sunburn, with an SPF of 4. We are also excited to have coconut oil in this scrub because coconut oil can reduce facial wrinkles. Wrinkles can mar the youthful look of facial skin. Coconut oil can preserve the smoothness of the face by keeping it wrinkle-free. Collagen, a structural protein in the inner layers of skin, is what keeps the skin elastic and smooth. It may breakdown due to the effect of UV rays, pollution, smoking, and physical injuries. Replacement of collagen is necessary to counteract the effects of its breakdown. It has been found that coconut oil has the ability to penetrate deep into the skin. The triglycerides in the oil attract protein molecules, ensuring timely repair of the collagen layer. WE LOVE COCONUT OIL!

GRAPESEED OIL | Grapeseed oil is high in polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), mostly omega-6 fatty acids. Grapeseed oil is a good source of vitamin E, which works as a fat-soluble antioxidant to help protect your cells from damaging free radicals that have been associated with cancer, heart disease, and other chronic illnesses. Vitamin E also supports your immune system. Grapeseed oil is often used to moisturize skin, heal acne, lighten skin, tighten pores, and reduce the appearance of scars. Grapeseed oil is a great addition to scrubs because is penetrates your skin quickly and doesn't leave you feeling oily or greasy.

ORGANIC BEESWAX | Beeswax helps to firm the balm slightly and give it a creamier consistency than a lotion or oil.

ORGANIC ARROWROOT POWDER | Arrowroot powder is used in moisturizers as a thickening agent. When used in health & beauty products, it enables ingredients like shea butter and organic oils to penetrate the upper levels of your skin because it has great moisture-absorbing qualities. Arrowroot powder is often used in my organic products to make skin silkier and smoother. It softens your skin by enabling it to absorb more moisture. Arrowroot powder is light, soft and absorbent. When applied topically, arrowroot powder has proven healing qualities. It helps to treat blemishes, rashes and other sores, or wounds. It can be made into a poultice and applied topically to treat rhizomes, ulcers and wounds. In Africa, arrowroot powder is used as a source of nourishment and for the treatment of sunburns.

VITAMIN E | Vitamin E is both a nutrient and antioxidant, and the oil in its purest form is extremely versatile. The National Institutes of Health Office of Dietary Supplements (ODS) explains that it is an antioxidant that helps neutralize free radicals, which damage cells and might contribute to cardiovascular disease and cancer, reactive oxygen species (ROS) formed in the body when it converts food to energy, and environmental exposures such as pollution and ultraviolet radiation.

PROPRIETARY BAY RUM & LIME OIL | Refreshing oil blend added for enhanced aroma.
